Montefalco Rosso is the other great wine produced in this area and this one from Villa Mongalli is one of the best on the market. Produced mainly from Sangiovese grapes with a small percentage of sagrantino, it is an intense but fresh red wine. It has a rich bouquet of red berries, spices and a hint of vanilla.
VINIFICATION: Lenghty maceration on the skins for 20-30 days. Natural fermentation without added yeasts in stainless steel at 23-34 degree C.
AGEING in barrique, tonneaux and large barrel (25 hL) of french oak. Final aging in bottle.
Ideal to accompany pasta dishes with sauces, grilled meat and medium ripe cheeses.
