LE BONCIE Trame 2022

Le Trame di Podere Le Boncie, Giovanna Morganti’s most representative wine.

Vinified with spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts in small open truncated cone-shaped vats of 500-700 litres for about 15-20 days, without temperature control, with short macerations. Aged in large barrels of varying capacities for 18-24 months before bottling.

Intense ruby red. The nose reveals hints of red fruit, floral notes, spicy tones and earthy hints. On the palate, it reveals a full body, well-integrated tannins and pleasant acidity.

WINERY

Le Boncie, owned by Giovanna Morganti, is located in Castelnuovo Berardenga and consists of approximately 4 hectares of vineyards.

Giovanna inherited the estate from her father Enzo, a renowned oenologist in the 1950s and 1960s, and like him, she mainly cultivates Sangiovese, believing that this popular variety deserves to be recognised for its true worth.

Over the years, Podere Le Boncie has become a bastion of resistance against the wine industry and the idea of mass exploitation of the land. Giovanna therefore favours non-intervention, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, in the name of natural agriculture inspired by biodynamic principles. In the cellar, in particular, vinification is traditional, with spontaneous fermentation in small open vats, without temperature control and with maceration periods that are not too long.

Giovanna’s wines fly the flag for authenticity and are the result of a true act of love for her native land, in an attempt to protect its integrity. Giovanna, who was one of the first producers to make a name for herself in the world of natural wines, has also given up claiming the Chianti Classico DOCG designation for her wines, which are simply classified as Toscana IGT.
