The 1994 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Ugolaia is produced from 20-year old vines with a high altitude southeast exposure. It reveals distinctive notes of dried herbs, hazelnuts, leather, licorice, fennel, and grapy black and red fruit juice. In the mouth, the wine is backward, but elegant, ripe, and impressively rich, with moderate tannin in the finish.
