Nestled just six kilometers from the Tuscan sea, Dario di Vaira is a family-run farmstead where 8 hectares of prime vineyards thrive amidst a total of 18 hectares of countryside. Founded in the 1960s by grandfather Pasqualino to share bulk wine with loved ones, the estate is now guided by grandson Dario, who paired a degree in enology with a deep reverence for his roots to transform the property into a benchmark for authentic, small-scale winemaking. Today, this true agriturismo beautifully weaves grapevine cultivation with ancient olive groves and organic vegetables destined for the family table. Since the late ’90s, the winery has strictly prioritized quality over quantity through sustainable, low-yield farming on clay-sandy soils. Here, Tuscany’s native Sangiovese grows alongside Bolgheri’s classic Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Petit Verdot, as well as white varieties like Vermentino, Viognier, and Chardonnay. Every grape is thoughtfully hand-harvested and fermented in temperature-controlled steel, before the reds undergo a patient maturation in French oak barriques. The resulting wines beautifully embody the refined soul of the region: while the reds are bold, warm, and majestic, the whites offer a fresh, vibrant profile kissed by the nearby sea breeze.
