Although the ruby colour of the young Nerello Mascalese is fairly light, here we find an extra point of density. The nose is closed at first, it slowly opens up, first offering delicious notes of small red fruit, then much more. Then there is strawberry, then blueberry, a touch of currant. And again a spicy nuance, an earthy, acrid, almost haematic hint and then a finish of underbrush.
The mouth recalls in the flavours all that the eye and nose anticipated.
The mineral salts of the soil give a textbook savouriness, the acidity of the mountain is very noticeable. And then the tannin, fine, well amalgamated with the matter, capable of giving rhythm to the sip. A finish of great depth, clean elegance.
